Old Rubber

I did a trial using the old rubbers I had removed and a new one. I can see what others had mentioned previously.
The old rubber fitted exactly and the one for the front door even expanded to fill the big gap in the top corner.

The new rubber was too thick and really stuck out. Even if firmly put in the profile was much bigger and will always stick out.
And the top part was way to long. (would need to cut and glue it back together to fit.)







This was how the Old Rubber sits





Now wondering if I should clean up as many of the old rubbers as I can and re-use them.
Then I'll just order the ones I no longer have.

To me it looks like the rubber maybe upside down it is hard to tell from the picture, they are basically the same as an FC door seal and the FE FC club of Victoria has been very happy with them when fitted correctly . If you like you can call Lance Corby at Rare Spares 03 93036400 in Melbourne he has fitted many of these seals and may be able to tell you why they are not fitting correctly.

I started out with Betta door rubbers and after fitting the first one to the LHF door I found that the remaining ones were different in profile across the bottom, the rears were bagged in opposite bags (left and right) and the RHF was totally stuffed in that the corner profile sections were inside out. The worst part was that I was committed to the original profile seal that I had fitted. I sent the remaining seals back and found out that they could not supply the original profile anymore. That really pissed me of cause they sent two different types of seals but didn't even bother to tell me first up. Anyway they stated that they were looking for another supplier........several months later I receive door seals that have rare spares bottom sections glued in them, and the rear door lower rear profile had corner sections glued in that wouldn't sit in the scuff plate properly. To top it off the door seals were too short to join up. Another discussion with them turns ugly after he tells me to stretch them which could only be done at the front leading edge due to formed corners in the seal. He cracks it and turns into a rude prick on the phone and tells me to send them back and he's not dealing with it anymore. I'm of course pretty annoyed at this as my deadline is getting shorter and I didn't need this. I sent the lot back for a refund (a month ago and still nothing back in my account).
As time was short I bit the bullet and bought rare spares. They're ok, doors shut after sometime. The bottom profile is all screwed up (has a double lip that faces down and doesn't match the rest of the seal). The compound on the bottom profile is also very soft compared to the rest and it doesn't hold its shape very well. (Feels like very light density sponge rubber).
I did however use Betta windscreen rubbers and they were perfect.
I'm still looking for good door seals so I'm interested to see how you go.

I got rare 'parts' door rubbers from WA, no trouble at all with fitting or doors closing. Do a search on this forum and you'll find them. Dunno how to do the link thing

Makes it slightly more confusing , but better to make an educated decision.
The old rubbers are looking better all the time.

I showed the pictures of the rubbers you posted to some people here and the consensus of opinion is that they are upside down including the old one you fitted.
The top right hand corner of the rubber should be at the bottom near the scuff plate.

I tried the new one the same way the old one had been done.
So much for that theory.
Can see now that the moulded corners go at the bottoms.
Someone should make reading instruction sheets mandatory.
It is an old seal, and as Tim said, not worth keeping.
It's just overfills and gap anyhow.
