Looks like I'm not the only one here guilty of the sin of having an EK special badge on my FB's glove box.
"Now lets all just calm down here. Yes, a crime has been committed here, but surely there are no real victims here..."

Well spotted Richard. The badge/glovebox lid has always been that way since I've had the car (over 20 years). I knew the previous owner who had it for about ten years and he hadn't changed it. The glove box lid was stripped back on this rebuild and the top and undercoats matched the rest of the car. I wanted to leave it there as I found it as it's part of the cars history i.e. options fitted. In my mind with the amount of options that were done I think this was one on the list too, but done at a dealer well after the original sale of the car.
I have yet to start on tracing the full history but so far the options found fitted were/are:

Sunvisor
Hood ornament
Front and rear mud flaps
Number plate frames
External rear view mirror
Windshield washers
Thumbprint dress rims
Door scratch plates
High and low note dual horns
Reverse lamps
Boot lamp
Warmaride fresh air heater
Glovebox lamp
Hood lock
Gear lever lock
Rear seat speaker
Hub cap medallions
Holden Deluxe radio
Locking petrol cap
Vanity mirror
Oil filter (removed for full flow set up)
White steering wheel
Handbrake light
Power brakes (after market VH44 booster)
Tow bar
and the rare one for a FB; Heavy duty radiator package

There is however one other "crime" that you missed. I've fitted EK stainless trims on the dash . I'm still yet to chase getting the old ones redone with the painted star pattern.

I'm really surprised it took this long till someone would say that! I had no real options as the Z9 was the only filter available with an anti drain back valve and an anti syphoning valve (vertical mount), plus the thread size had to match the filter housing. GPM, micron and beta efficiency ratings were another issue with the full flow conversion.
Anyway I was a bit over with the potential free advertising for Ryco and the fact that the filter sticks out look a sore thumb so I ordered a billet cover for it. Looks better I think and matches the rocker cover. Think I'll have to polish the rocker cover a bit more though.

Whitewalls on today...woohoo!
Kitted out master cylinders and ready to bleed brake and clutch. Purple brake fluid????????? Looks a bit gay but it should brown off (Silicon fluid). All mechanical finished underneath bar oils in box and diff.
Still waiting for my outer door seals......getting annoyed with this part as I need to fit them before the doors go on.
Temporary trim should be ready to fit Friday week. Not much more left but a lot of fiddly shit to tidy up and finish.

I agree there's heaps of accessories I'd chose before a clock - fiestas, spats, stainless sills, taxi rail and a picnic shelf to name a few.

My brother has a camper seat but wont let it go, but also wont do anything with it....

Its been a big week as I've finally got the car driveable. I had a few dramas with the brakes due to leaks from the silicon fluid but all sorted now. Clutch was a real bastard to bleed as the master cylinder piston would not return after full travel when bleeding down the slave cylinder. After much stuffing around it was vacuum holding it down so I had to be patient with the piston returning after each stroke. All the interior is finished now but I'm still waiting on outer door seals. Betta Auto rubbers sent me a mix of outer seals with two different types of profile on the lower section that runs across the scuff plate. I discovered this after fitting the first one. After some calls with them it seems that they cannot supply the lower section as per the original profile and are searching for another rubber supplier. The only one they can supply is a new type with a "K" profile. In their words its a double lip. In my words its useless as it doesn't have a flat section on the inside face of the lower profile and cant be glued to the scuff plate properly. Well that was some months ago now so you can guess how happy I am with that! Now I'm looking for a refund and the possibility of going for Rare Spares Seals and we all know what they're like.
Another problem cropped up too. No vacuum wipers. My new Trico Motor is stuffed straight out of the box. Looks like the vacuum flap seal is passing. Probably dried up from age. I also found the vacuum pump kit I bought has the wrong valves. The spring tension on the valves is too tight to allow the pump to draw enough vacuum. I ended up pulling it down and removing the new valves and found some old ones that weren't leaking down and fitted them. Wipers are good now with 12" Hg at the motor with only the pump supplying vacuum (manifold disconnected). I've temporarily fitted an old motor that worked ok so I'll get to sorting the "new" one out later.

If you bought a kit with these valves in them don't use them in the vacuum pump!

Leave the old ones in if they don't leak back, or source new ones of these type.

The rare spares door rubbers are pretty good now. You dont have to slam the doors anymore. They still arent identical to factory but doo look right along the bottom.

I did find the Rares rubbers pretty good, but I'm not real anal about those things.
The doors had to be shut pretty firmly which I thought was a good thing to keep the rain out.
Although I can't believe how much water got in at the Sawtell nats with such tight fitting door seals .

You will have to have a meet up for the Vic forum folk to come see your finished car, weather is only getting better from now on.

Yep, will do Trev. I still have a fair bit to go, and a lot of fiddly shit, but will look at meeting up sometime hopefully late October. I've noticed the Victoria postings have been pretty quiet since June so I'm expecting a bloodrush soon with everyone busting to get out in their cars when the weather is better. I know I am!
