Engine ID please

Post by Fishyweare »

Just picked up a spare motor and box out of an EK but now not sure if it is an EK after reading some posts

Head number is 7412811

Block number is C192
7412817
Also has a 7 stamped above these numbers to the right

Do I have a 132 or a 138 ?

Thanks in advance for details

Hi,

They're the part numbers, we could tell you a lot more from getting the actual engine number which is stamped onto the flat in front of the distributor and pretty much directly below the part number of the block that you gave us.

Having said that, the block's part number is consistent with a 138ci grey, but not sure if it carried over on to EJ's. Some of the other guys will know.

What I can tell you for sure is that if when you find the actual engine number it begins with a 'B', then you have an FB or EK 138 engine.

When we see the number, we'll be able to tell you with some certainty which model it's from and how early or late it is.

Yep, the gearbox has it's own casting numbers, and serial number. Take a look-see here for decoding:
