Awsome stuff. Will they let you run an old car. I thought the chassis had to be new.
When I brought my Merlin boat home the first thing my mother said was "you have bought your death".
She has only ever come to one of my boat race meetings and has vowed to never go to another. Seeing five people got killed boat racing last year I guess she has a point.

If and I say "If" the track will it will most likely be a demo run, part track pass. You're right bootlegger it needs to be a new chassis, which is why the one I'm half owner in is a no rush to get done project...

I have a friend here in Adelaide that is running a dragster that was last used in the 80's.
He bought a complete runner with trailer that had been stored for a long time.
Its been past tech, and approved. So, apparently not.
I do plan to take it to tech before I spend much.

i know plenty of people with race cars and to my knowledge that's right it just has to pass current tech inspections which may mean the odd extra bar
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

ANDRA sound like they've changed their tune from fifteen years ago. When we were asking we were told it would need to be a new chassis to run with the twin drivers hoop. It ran at the ADRA (antique drag racing association) but they ran at eighth mile tracks without ANDRA backing. Maybe hat had something to do with it too. Think ANDRA had their nose out of joint...

Thommo's is your mates an original rail from the 60's or 70's?

Yes it is, built and raced by Ron Mattews of Whyalla SA as a Modified Dragster A/MD, pic below.

As it is now.

We also have Tony over here who has another one.
It was, amonst other owners, at one time belonged to a fellow I work with now, Kym Griffiths
Image

Then It was Bernie McGrath's 'Wild Oats" Dragster
Image

Now its with Tony, who has just front halved it & getting it mobile.
Image

Mine has been traced to Jason Perrin who had local Legand/Guru Jeff During extend the frame at one point.
Image

Before that we think it was probably Rex Brown's Zephyer 6 powered dragster.
Image

We have had plenty of guys in the know, look at pics of my dragster,
Our best guess is, that mine was back halved sometime after Rex, but before Jason.
After Jason had the front extended, all that would remain is the front torsion tube, axle assembly & wheels.

Its a bit like the best broom I have ever had, Its had 3 new brushes, & 4 new handles, but its still the best broom I ever had
