Petes EK

Post by Peterhsv »

Hi Guys,

Always loved old Holdens but always owned late model ones (post 2000 models), and EK was my favourite oldschool Holden. I came across this baby last month and fell in love and emptied my account, cancelled plans for the next 2 years to pay for it....top $$$.

Its a 1961 EK special 3 speed column manual, resprayed in original reef green. Original 138 motor, white walls, spats, immaculate interior, no rust, 33700 miles displaying (unsure if genuine though) etc.

All i need to do myself is buy and fit venetians, scratch plates, bonnet bird and external sunvisor above windscreen and she'l look trick. (anyone in Sydney able to sell me these at a reasonable price let me know =) )

It will be my sunday driver....sure to turn heads and bring back memories for the old folk of yesteryear!!!!!

Anyways hope you enjoy the photos and let me know what you think about this EK...

Anyone with some idea of what the market value of a car like this would be let me know. (Thanks and happy lookinG).

Nice car Pete - as to the value - it's worth what the highest bidder is willing to pay.

I am in the process of restoring a FB will cost around 8K including rego - saw one on ebay for the same price, so could have had that without spending endless weekends in the shed. But I enjoy working on it. Also I will know what is new and what was made to look new.

By the way, the ebay car did not sell.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the welcome.

The car arrives tomorrow and i will not register it until later on in the year, i just dont have the funds or time to enjoy driving it at the moment (full time work plus full time study), so registering it would be a waste.

As for the nationals.... when and where are they?.... i dont have much time unfortunately, but i will try attend some events where its convenient.

I too would love to learn to do the work myself...seeing a car rise up from the ruins, but i dont have the space required and nor the time to do it, which is why i bought this one.

Does anyone know the exact name of the paint colour?

thanks for the nice commenst guys.

pete,
Sweet looking EK my man....

You won't look back. One thing I'd do is knock a few coils out of the front and drop the arse a bit. :D :D
IF IT'S PRE '65 IT'S OK TO DRIVE…

The nats are on June long weekend at Albury , if you get the paint codes off the tag on the passengers side firewall and post the numbers someone will decipher them for you.
I am off to Perth for the weekend so i`m sure someone will do it for ya !

Very very sweet Pete
Keep an eye on ebay, from time to time bonnet birds & visors pop up but scratch plates are a little harder & a little more expensive.
Also try & post a message on the forum - you may be suprised

Hi Pete. Nice EK you've bought. Was it the one sold on ebay in recent weeks???.The only thing I think I'd do to it is lower the front a bit with say 1.5 or 2 inch lowered coil springs and lower the rear by 1 or 1.5 inch lowering blocks and it should have a nice stance at that and still have that nice original look still.I agree with Andrews comments, the car is worth what you were prepared to pay for it.

Happy EK'ing

Terry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
