i think the reason for the gap from the rubber to the subframe is to pretension the anti dive on the crossmember :dohh:

Next Question
How tight do I do ALL the ball joint nuts up / is there a torque setting or do you just do them up firm. The hole for the split pin doesn't want to line up it's to low for the slots in the nut ::: can I use NYLEX LOCK nuts ????

Tighten them up until you fart ,then back them off until the split pin will go through - its not rocket surgery.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Blacky I like your torque settings
Tighten them up until you fart ,then back them off until the split pin will go through
but the problem is i cant tighten it enough to get down to the hole for the split pin

I will have a look at that today. It is the upper & lower ball joints on the drivers side I am having all the trouble with

and I thought he was talking about tie rod ends

If nylocs fit then whack 'em on , a lot of aftermarket ball joints have nyloc nuts on them anyway...

I've had balljoints before with nylocs and no hole for split pin that is the way they came, although I did return them as I didn't trust the nyloc and have the same issue where it wouldn't tighten enough but it was just enough to get a smaller split pin in
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

Well I have had some success to day I have managed to get the split pins in I am not sure whether the ball was turning as I tightened it up or not but they are in,It feels bloody heavy and its not on its wheels yet I am hoping it will ride up with wear (as the old Taylor's used to say.)
