Windscreens & rear window

Post by t950cat »

Hi all
Just wondering if i will strike any major dramas in removing and replacing the windscreen and rear window that i might happen to come across and any advice you might be able to give me in doing this as in how hard to put them back in.
Thanks heaps
Tony

Nup you can fully beat the crap out of them with a rubber mallet if they are original toughened glass.
Laminated on the other hand will crack if you rest it on a pebble or flex it too much .
Use the right cord when replacing it and maybe some soapy water

Oh yeah seperate the inner rubber by running a screwdriver or something suitable under and along it , Then sit in the car and put two feet on the window in the position that dad used to find the footprints on his window after I would borrow the car (ahhh did I say that out aloud)

And keep pressure on the screen untill it lets go ,
keep an eye on the rubber and keep feeling untill its ready to go (Much like in dads car also) because it can drop out fast , I once kicked a 56 oval window out of a beetle clear across three cars at Flynns wrecking yard

two warnings, new rubbers not always the best fit, some brands of new laminated windscreens basically just don't fit :x

got nothing on brands, but over the years i've had 2 new screens supplied by the fitters that just did not fit, couldn't even get them in the car, when we reverted back to old standard screen same car, rubber and fitter straight in no worries
