Having Dramas with inlet manifold, not sure where it is sucking air from?,running on 5 cyls at idle,
thinking about getting the faces machined.
Will that help rectify the problem?,will be running new gasket etc as well.

Re: Inlet Manifold
I'd try just a new gasket to start with.Aussy Edo wrote:Having Dramas with inlet manifold, not sure where it is sucking air from?,running on 5 cyls at idle,

Hey mate.....try this first before ya go spending money on unnecessary machining ............ get a spray can of " Start Ya Bastard " (ether spray) from Super Cheap and lightly spray around suspected leak areas slowly with the motor at idle speed...start on the manifold feeding the cyclinder that it is not firing on .....use the spray and wait method ( just a few seconds wait ) ...you must spray very closely to the manifold and or base of carb ..when you spray where the manifold is sucking air the motor will increase in revs.....remember this stuff is highly voilatile so be gentle try not to use on an extremely hot manifold .....it will find what ya looking for though ..........Fingers 0409253202
Don’t you find it Funny that after Monday(M) and Tuesday(T), the rest of the week says WTF?
Re: Inlet Manifold
If you have a brake booster connected, then it can suck air back through that if the diaphragm is torn. This will result in a rough idle.

Re: Inlet Manifold
brake booster not installed yet Allan, was going to have a look at installing all my recoed brakes and booster over easter but seems the family has other ideas.Have heard of the spray on trick before but havent done it.Was just thinking that if i got the face of the manifold machined and a new gasket i would eliminate the problem.

Re: Inlet Manifold
Id be spraying the manifold with wd 40 not pure ether. Makes for a nice bang when it goes up.
I was spraying some of it into a throttle body once. It backfired and went up burning my arm.
