stanthorpe club run 25/26th August

Post by jmaddalena »

Stanthorpe 25th / 26th August

Grab those coats and beanies for a weekend at Stanthorpe. We will be staying at the Top of the town caravan park which is just as you come into town. The park offers a variety of accommodation at a reasonable price. Just remember to book ASAP as it is usually booked well in advance and tell them you are in the club so they can put us in the same area.

Should you or any members require any further information, please feel free to give Vera at the park a call. An email with pricing will be circulated. Stanthorpe has lots of things to do and lots of local produce to eat and purchase.

I am taking Fi's EK to Leyburn Sprints on sunday 19th (I wont be doing any sprinting in that car, maybe just some Jogging!) This arvo I fixed rattly EH premier dress rims and adjusted gear linkages. Now wer'e ready for beautiful Stanthorpe next weekend.

Yes mate. I looked at the FB and the rod with the small nut (9/16) had the nut right up near the top, but the FB had 1/2'' of thread protruding out of the top, so I wound it down the same, and the other rod, the one with the 11/16 nut was too high as well, so I wound it down to the same as the FB as well. Now it has nearly the same "push straight up" first to second change as the FB. All this is probably in the workshop manual anyway. Maybe next time I should just read that, but It keeps putting me to sleep!

Maybe Fi's car has bodgie nuts on the linkages, Are they both supposed to be the same size? Also I had to do a lot of fiddling with my reversing light switch as it was working in second gear as well. I also noted that my "Sta Put" gear lever lock padlock is a little harder to put on now, but nothing serious! Just listen to me dribble on and on!

Picked up mate Fish and set off to Leyburn Sprints at 6.00 this morning. EK going well, raised float level slightly, now seems to even fly up hills despite high gearing. May have a go at noisy tappets during the week. Leyburn sprints a terrific event. Highly Recommended. Will set off for Stanthorpe early Saturday morning.

Pete.
Cars race around the Streets of Leyburn, one at a time, against the clock. Leyburn is a town like Bell in NSW in size. The cars are mostly old Cortinas, Triumph Dinamites? Armstrong Piddlies? Fiat Arkbath?...... That sort of thing! All driven flat out on 2 wheels around the town. Plus a great little car show, country markets etc.
A great day, exept not enough EJs either!

Had a great weekend! All the old Holdens seemed to go well. Some scores at the Junk Shops and at Winery and Cheese place. We all crossed paths at different times during the weekend, and our three handsome Holdens drew nostalgic responses from the locals. As always, we came home with a car full of gear that we didn't need! To see Tims flash Standard, driving off from "Bramble Patch World", or something, with the full family in tow, gave me a warm feeling inside. A true family car!

Jeff and Rachels FB sits on the road well, and compared to Fi's car, goes round corners like a Lotus Elan, and Jeff built it himself in his backyard, so he would have to be happy with it. He also bought a couple of kites today at the Flea Market. They would have been good up on the hill today, but we were all busy tasting stuff!
Thanks for the pics guys.
