I already updated to the faster EK wagon pursuit car, and opted for the NASCO 327 Chev upgrade (Canadian block

)... just need to pull my finger out and finish the project.
The FB had been rattly in motor thrust bearings for a while (noisy enough even for Dave to notice and give me stick). Still driveable though. Took it for a squirt up to Tamworth about 3 months ago, and drove back along the F3 with a trailer loaded with EK doors. Stupid me

had it stuck on 110km/h the whole way, and should have eased up for the last 20km on so. Got to the end of the F3 with very hot, thin oil and stopped at the lights. Lost oil pressure at idle, and had to bring revs up to about 1500rpm to get enough pressure to turn the idiot light off. Thrust bearings were not too happy, and got even rattlier after that. Took it for another squirt up the F3 last weekend with an unloaded trailer behind, and lost the bearings about 2km from Freemans Waterhole. Limped into Freemans Waterhole servo, and called the NRMA. Had some moron reverse into the trailer in a 4WD and shunt the trailer and
FB forward 6" (no damage other than smacking me in the knees with the bumper bar). Moron drove away calmly as if nothing had happened - managed to just keep my temper. Spotted the wagon cruising past, but my mind was not in a great place to be noting details. Flatbed'd the FB home - have spun #5, and scuffed a few others. 1/4" of endfloat

... not suprising with no thrusts. No top end or crank damage. New bearings, machine the crank, throw some rings in it and try again.
Cheers,
Harv.
