Monaro or kinga?

Post by Kato »

G'Day Guy's,
A mate of mine is in the process of doing up what he believes to be a HQ Monaro, but there have been a few differences of opions as to wheter it's a monaro or kinga due to the compliance plates.

Any idea's? Any info would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Kato.

Haven't got my book here to reference but if it helps my old HQ GTS Coupe was a 80837 model code.

DR Terry ( username on this forum ) would be the best one to PM if no one else here knows.

Terry.( the other Terry )
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Maybe try posting them on a Monaro forum?
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

You think the same way I do Smooth, HQ`s were built until 1974, therefore the newest one is 33 years old - and they are "modern stuff"

Kato.

Information I have is:
She's a Ozzy built, Kingswood Sedan, 308 High Compression Motor, Built in 1973 in Sydney, It was the 64607 HQ to come out of Sydney.
Paint colour is Mustard with Fawn/ brown trim, Fitted with a Good oll Ozzy M21 4 Speed and 3.36 Rear diff ratio.
All this information to my knowledge is correct as long as its the original compliance plate. Hope this helps.

Regards John

Thanks again guy's,
below is a copy of a pm my mate was sent on oldholden.com.

Regards,
Kato.

Hello Lloyd,

All numbers/codes indicate an original vehicle. It is an HQ GTS/4- door sedan. The trim code is the give-away (30Y).

This car was built on 02/04/73 as a GTS/4 with 308, M21, conventional steering, power disc front brakes, 3.08:1 Salisbury rear axle, non- fitment of air conditioning. Engine number is QT307655. Car was sold new in April 1973 through Ron Hodgson Holden in N.S.W.

Hope this is of use,
B.

Don't forget in the old days if you had the cash anything could be special ordered i.e. HK?(when the first ones came out) 4 Door with all Monaro trim and equipment and the compliance was monaro. My dad used to be a ringer on a station and special ordered one and paid three times the price of a monaro. It was yellow(his choice of colour) and I only have one small picture from the rear, the car would be worth a small fortune now but I guess it doesn't exist any more.
