Been cleaning out the photo cupboard , found a few pics that some of you might be interested in .
These were taken in the workshop where we maintained the cars for Running On Empty - in the background is the green Veedub that the yellow Monaro ran up and over the back of , the rear of the dub was cut off and a ramp was fitted to enable the Monaro to go up and over it , in the foreground is one of the GT's , and on the far left is the FB that was painted red and used in the rollover scene.
My mate Pete (driving) and I taking the GT for a squirt around Sydney one afternoon
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

My HR ute , was the first car I built from a bare shell , bought a real tidy Prem wagon for $400 as a donor car , drove the wagon around while I got the bodywork and paint done then swapped all the bits over .
Fixing a bit of rust underneath - what is this worksafe you speak of ?????

My beloved Overlander , I bought this car in QLD when I was about 20 , owned it for 14 years , was the longest I had ever owned a car , it was red when I got it , gave it a rebuild in 1986 or thereabouts and painted it white then 10 years later gave it another birthday and painted it blue. Sold it to pay for our wedding , it was on Ebay in Qld ( gone full circle) a couple of years ago - was REAL tempted to buy it back
This pic was taken at the 1986 or 7 StreetMachine nationals at Natex in Canberra , the year before it became the Summernats. We were in the paddock next door to Natex knocking off a load of firewood , even in summer its cold in bloody Canberra
Painted white , on one of our regular skiing weekends

started playing speedway , theres a handy way of getting rid of any spare money you may have lying around ........
Fixed the first one up , blew a right rear tyre at the end of the back straight just as i chucked it into the corner , the rim dug into the track and spun me straight into the wall
We can rebuild it its only money

I built this Tonner for a bet - my mates told me there was no way I could repair this rusted out heap of shit - I was REALLY rusty. I cut and shut it through the pillars and under the seats then remade the rest of the sills and the back of it.

Had this thing too - but did it the easy way and bought it already converted , this was the wifes daily driver. Was lots of fun blowing off boy racers in their Fowlcans and Thugsports
