The Project Goes Injected.
Thanks Devilrod. I had a go with the heat gun, and got some improvement in the fit. I managed to reduce the external bracing hump bit to a point where I'm happy. I also found that rather than cutting the holes for the accelerator pedal, dip switch and seat mounts, a much neater job can be done with a soldering iron, just melting through the matting, leaving edges without fraying.

Looking great there Bluehaze!
Loving the effort you have gone to, makes the build look really tidy a credit to you.
cheers

Hi Dave
I've used the injectors and the rail. I had to modify the extractors to fit between the motor and the Y frame but it all fits nice and neat now. I'm hanging to get the motor back from the reco place so I can put it back together and fire her up with the new ECU. That gauge on your intake manifold will be handy to make sure the fuel pressure is correct. I'm sticking with the original throttle body, (with a rheostat TPS feedback) and running some 3 inch silicon pipe to a nice K&N pod filter just next to the brake master. Fingers crossed she'll be on the road soon.

Sorry Dave
What I wrote was: (after Hi Dave) was yes, I'm using the injectors and the rail. The extractors have been modified at the secondaries to fit between the motor and the sub frame. I still have your intake manifold complete with the later throttle body, which I will return to you once I borrow the pressure gauge to make sure the fuel pressure is ok. I'm sticking with the original throttle body, which I've fitted with a rheostat type TPS, it also has a switch at WOT I'm using for the kick-down. Very much looking forward to having a system which gives full control over the fuel and ignition mapping.
Got the tri matic back yesterday from the tranny place. A basic reco cost me $300, so I'm pretty happy with that. He told me what he did, but as I'm ignorant to the workings of autos all I got was "waffle waffle tightened bands" and "blah blah servo coupling somethingorother" he says it's in good shape anyway, I got that bit.

aidan...
i'll get there....
Ok, I know this is going to seem
A but humdrum as far as the build process goes, but here I go anyway. Picked up the re-upholstered back seat today from my motor trimmer, and it looks friggin awesome! Put it straight into the car and looked at it, sat on it and looked at it again. I can really appreciate the skill and patience that goes into motor trimming. Then I sat in the front and listened to the stereo for a while. Sounds excellent now with the back seat and all the windows and carpet in. Even has that new car smell. While I wait for the motor to come back from rebuild, however all I can do is sit in the
Drivers seat and make "broom broom" noises. Noting wrong with a grown man doing that, is there...?

Re: The Project Goes Injected.
Yes indeed, Richard - last time I saw your build was during tigging of the floor...... I think the Ark had found land by then...
Not home during winter..... I look forward to eyeballing your progress from Oct onwards....
Finally, yes - perfectly normal to simulate running through the gears without the engine running - some clever sound recording might afford you some appreciation of the "project" sound system installed......

Morning Richard
Will your new project make Mount Gambier? But hey there is nothing wrong with bringing Esme either, maybe you could bring both.
kind regards
Lesley

Hi Lesley.
I'm still waiting for the motor to come back from the machine shop. I hoped to get it before Easter so I could get cracking putting it together and giving it a basic run-in and start tuning in the computer. Alas the wait continues. I do have word at least that the block and head are in good shape and all is going well, albeit slowly. Still, a good job is always worth the wait. At this rate my chances of making Mount Gambier are slim to nil.
