Although he did say that the new trailer tows really well so much so you don't know it's there! Literally......

Thanks DR

I picked up a trailer before I went to the show in Melb, my water pump started shitting itself so thanks to DR he got me a replacement so when I went to the other show were he was, instead of enjoying the cars I was replacing my water pump in another car park

After it was done and a chin wag for a while I took off for home about 10pm for the hour plus drive, 3/4 of the way home I checked my mirror to see the trailer wasn't there

Went and bought a new hitch and tow ball, just have to put them on and fix a bent light surround and she'll be just like new

Good pics I went down Sunday morning, and took a few myself I will upload some tonight when I get home. Must say it wasn't the best year I have been!

Re: Victorian Hot-Rod show 20th- 22nd January 2012
I'm in Melbourne for a few days so decided to go to the show.
They definitely need a larger venue. People were lining up for over 40 minutes in 35 degree heat, and the traffic getting there was atrocious.
Quality of the cars was top notch though, even the cars parked outside. Cars like the customized FJ van were mind-blowing
Special mention goes to the clown in a Pontiac who spat the dummy coz he couldn't park on the grounds. Smoked his tyres all the way up the road, then parked and started swearing like a wharfie to anyone that would listen
:lol
I'll post photos when I get back to Sydney

Thing is Cal it used to be a bigger venue till they built the museum next door and shrunk the building back to its original size and lost the use of the carpark/entrance to the north. It is the longest running car show at the same venue in Melbourne.Cal wrote:I'm in Melbourne for a few days so decided to go to the show.

As for the traffic it's always bad in the city. Best to go real earlier especially with weather like we had over the weekend.

Yes it's a great show and venue ,but I also think the show has out grown the venue and perhaps it's time to look for a new one,Melbourne showgrounds come to mind only 5 mins from the existing venue heaps of undercover sheds building loads of parking and stuff all traffic issues, anyway that's my 2cents worth

The VHRA have looked at moving to Jeffs shed but the cost of the venue puts paid to that. It's bad enough the trust where they are dictate entry fees and parking fees as it is.
As for the show grounds they just don't have the same feel for an indoor show. They were used about 15 years ago by CCP I think it was and they spread it over two or three buildings. Granted there was plenty of parking but just way too spread out and not a great layout.

Re: Victorian Hot-Rod show 20th- 22nd January 2012
The excessive cost of hiring Jeffs shed is the reason Melbourne doesnt host a Motorex show too, Im good friends with some of the organisers and they said that cost of the venue the main thing stopping it coming to Melbourne.
