DOOR RESTO

Post by DOLLER »

Just started pulling some old doors apart to restore and was wondering what I should save and what I should scrap?
All the rubbers and guides are buggered and was wondering what is still availible and what these bits are called? ie the chrome topped strips either side of the window at the top of the door (where ya rest ya arm  )
I know Bailey Channel is availible but what about the rest? :?
What about glass? I do have most there but am dubious about the quality.

Surely many of you guys have done these jobs befor so any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Run what ya brung and hope it's enough

all the rubber bits are available , glass is flat so can be recut at reasonable cost.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

It is called bailey channel , it comes complete with the stainless bead and the rubber - Rare Spares should stock it , it comes in straight lengths and is quite expensive - around $80 a length from memory.

It can be a bugger to bend , you need to be careful not to kink it , probably not so bad if you are doing a sedan or wagon , but getting the bend in ute or van doors right can be a challenge
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Yep - the top rear section of a ute van door is rounded whereas the sedan/wagon doors are straight
