Prepsol, kero and turps work fine

some people put thinners in some rust treatments to thin it, and this is where some nasty things happen. like it eating into the paint
The way to reduce the viscosity is to get a large tin of bucket, and put boiling water in the bottom two or three inches. And then put the fish oil or other material in their tin into the boiling water.
this will soften and allow the material to flow more freely
sometimes it is best to strain the material into whatever container or application gun you are using, as some materials will have lumps or other impurities in them

Now that's just plain STOOPID! Anyone with half a brain MUST know that thinner's & paint = softening or worse!!! .
I love the protection fish oil offers , but hate applying it !! Plus the six or so months waiting for it to stop running down my sills !! It's a necessary evil I 'spose.

they can it's just that you don't want to leave them in plain sight too long and then you don't want to take pics of them and tell people you have them

Should put a couple of good condition ones in a factory somewhere out of site and see if they breed!

it does happen, with parts atleast, at one stage i had 7 bonnets and i'm f#%ked if i know where they came from, culled them and got rid of the first couple and the problem hasn't returned

Have tried putting NOS parts in a box and leaving them alone for some time, but there was only the same parts in there when I went back, might have been the same sex pieces.
Does anyone know how to define male and female Holden parts???

A meticulously executed restoration, looks superb. Some great info too.
I guess more of us would enlist a professional to do what you have done, but the cost is prohibitive nowadays. I recently asked a professional spray painter mate of mine to inspect my car, with a view to him painting it. To my surprise he said that we were doing a great DIY job, and that if I got stuck or needed advice, he'd lend a hand. I certainly couldn't afford the 8 - 10 grand professionals start quoting from.

As I have mentioned before, its not till assembly that the true condition of some parts is seen for what they are.
Some may just need a wipe over, I wish! But most times there is a truck load of work required.
