[Smooth customs]

I will start with an update on the wagon, and will sort of restart the rebuild process.
Sorry if I repost some photos but I will try and give you the steps on how and why the wagon has been rebuilt.

This wagon will be the last car out of Smooth Customs, as when it leaves I will be closing my shop.
Health issues are one of the reasons for the longer than normal rebuild time along with having to back track and start over when certain things were found during the rebuild. But I will explain and show these later in the posts.

When the wagon was delivered it was a good example of a one owner car in need of some overdue care.
A full check showed areas that needed immediate attention, and others that required dismantling and evaluation of repair or replacement.
The car did not start out as a full rebuild, that was explained in earlier posts

Graham, I have been making the FB EK Cruzin Skirts for about 17 years.
And they are available from me, send ma a PM and I will get back to you

Even I had a hand in helping 'preping' the mold for the "cruzin skirts" for Paul when I was up there in June (after the Nat's) so if they self explode it would be MY fault!
I've seen some of the work gone into this wagon over the years (on the odd visit to Paul's shop) and it's amazing just HOW MUCH is involved in this thing!! Every little bit has had attention to it ..right down to the grease nipples!

Here are some shots taken when inspecting the car and during dismantling
Some cars with older owners seem to have strange owner performed repairs or additions, and this wagon had a couple of those.
The rear sway bar was an interesting instalation, electrical additions are always head scratchers especially when the wires used dont blend in with the factory harness.
This wagon towed a van for who knows how long, but the vacume brake system that was fitted tells me it had been there since the 60's.
Will try and upgrade the photos each day or so

i love seeing this attention to detail quality work just makes me feel a little bad about my half assed stuff it's safe but i'm lazy and figure if you can't see it it don't matter

Thanks for putting them up Paul. The wagon looks great. I, like Mick really enjoy seeing quality work. Its a shame we won't get to see more from you, enjoy your retirement.

Mick, you build great cars your way. I would just like you to do one with shinny paint again.

The pictures posted so far are of the first part of the tidy up I was doing on the wagon, and from my point of view nothing is that special or overdone. Just the way i approach this work.
If I would have known the changes that would have to be made later, the job would have been started differently.

I am not retiring! Health issues have made it so much harder, and impossible to even attempt at times to do what I so like. And have done for almost 40 years.
