Sam,
Its hard to tell by the photos but,
Water in the oil has a milky white texture and if left long enough will turn your oil a chocolate brown colour.
To me it just looks like it has air in it probably from swirling inside. Is it the same oil as in the EJ ??
Regards Greg

Re: oil--- is this right????
hey Greg,
thanks for your reply... Ok so looks like we can rule out water... YEP! its the exact same grade oil in the EJ. so what do u think it is???? when u say air in it???? is that a bad thing???? should I just change the oil & go from there??? it definitely needs one as its rather dark???
thanks appreciate your help.

They both look fine to me. Like Greg said, the oil gets a milky texture if it mixes with water.
Even if both cars have the same oil, the age and mileage the oil has done will show a difference between the two

Re: oil--- is this right????
thanks Pete.
Yer i forgot to mention the only difference was I had just started the ute after a few weeks. & the EJ was from a cold motor.
I checked it this morning & it didnt have any bubble. just very dark
So does that me when it starts thats just the circulation / air causing the bubbles ???
thanks ya'll

Could be, though I must say I've never seen the bubbles on mine.
What sort of oil are you using, Sam?

Re: oil--- is this right????
Now that you mention that you checked it soon after running the engine, it makes more sense.
Like Greg had said, from all the swirling around in the engine, it may have scored a few air bubbles.

Ha Ha !!!!
Oils aint oils !!!
Some oils have more detergent in them than others to help deglaze the inside of your motor, hence the bubbles.
I have used different oils over the time and I must say that Penrite has been the best. I once tried a brand called torco and it frothed and spat out everywhere when at high RPM. Penrite won't do that for some reason.
Also try using only mineral oil in these old engines cause they like it.
