Engine numbers again....

Post by OldGMHolden »

Hi All,
I have just sourced a motor to recondition and fit into my (presently motorless) EK ute.
Engine number is B274539, which I am fairly sure is an EK motor, as I have read somewhere that EK numbers start at B175814.
Has anybody got a list of grey motors showing which numbers were manufactured in any particular month?
I am trying to keep the car as close to original as possible without being absolutely anal about it.
Cheers,
Gaz.

Yep, shes an EK motor.

Roughly:
• FX numbers started at 1001,
• FJ numbers started at 121694,
• FE numbers started at L283373,
• FC numbers at L439507,
• FB numbers started at B1001,
• EK numbers started at B175814, and
• EJ numbers started at J1001.

Your best bet for more exact FB/EK build dates would be Steve Jackson, and for FE/FC Ken Mclean from the FE/FC forum.

Thanks Guys,
I know it's an EK motor, but I'm trying to ascertain what month/year it was built.
The FE-FC site has a list of FE-FC numbers with that info, but not for FB-EK.
Can anybody help, or point me in the right direction?
Cheers,
Gaz.

Try Stevie - though I don't know if he has build dates, or just the plate details:
