Petrol in engine oil??

Post by muza »

Hi all, dropped the engine oil out my engine only to nearly choke on petrol fumes??? :?
Just wondering if anyones ever heard of someone putting petrol in the engine for any reason as there seemed to be quite a far bit of it, and also what type of damage it could have caused?
Wouldnt imagine it'd be too good for it, cheers Muza

Was it an engine you just bought?
If so the last owner was probably trying to clean up the gunk under the rocker cover or something stupid like that  :? .

It could be the rings too. I had a 253 once where i tried puttong a stupidly big carbie on. I flooded it so much trying to start it that the rings let the fuel seep through into the sump.
