Hey all
I'm considering rebuilding my Grey at some point.
I found this kit - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/HOLDEN-138-G ... _500wt_922
Whats your opinion of the price? Reasonable?
Cheers
Ash
138 Rebuild - kit?
Re: 138 Rebuild - kit?
Sounds reasonable to me, the only thing I wouldn't use is the fibre timing gears, get yourself a steel set, Trev
.

then dont forget to add in the extra cost for the
crank grind
bore
hot tank
head work / valves
ect ect
doing it individually can cost a heap more, get your prices of what required and compare against a reconditioner doing the whole job.
and shop around, to get the valves reseated for the chev motor i was quoted from $400 to $800

Of coarse you will need the machining done.
I had mine cleaned, machined, balanced with everything in that add (except timing gears) for about $1600.
The head was fully recoed with bigger valves and some porting for $915.
