I bought my Ek sdan in December 07. in the glove box was a receipt for a 'full brake overhall' a couple of months previously
I noticed the work done was drums machined, new shoes & 4 x new PBR brake cylinders.
Last month I noticed the fliud level was going down slowly. I've got a mobile brake bloke I've used since '97
(Andrew -Werribee Brake & Clutch 0418 513 788 in Melbourne ) who is brilliant on any braking system.
Andrew noticed that both rear cylinders were leaking slightly. He took them off & got them resleeved in stainless steel
He said that the wheel cylinders have been made in china for the last few years and are just not as good as the aussie made ones years ago. (combined with limited usage of the vehicle, they will pit & leak)
For your interest - i was suprized that relatively new cylinders should leak. Also 1 piston was jammed!
Also of interest was the rear brake hose. He took it off and tried to blow air through it. Constricted to buggery!
A new one went on quick smart. He said often people do up brakes and forget to check the rear hose.
Yep, that's why I use him. Now that I have got back to an EK - I don't want to lose it on a bend on my way to Sawtell!
Cheers

Wheel Cylinders
Re: Wheel Cylinders
My wheel cylinders eeem ok, though I've had to change front and rear hoses over time as they were leaking. Last thing you want with single circuit brakes (and no seat belts) is brake fluid leaks.
