Rosco would be proud of you Scotty if he saw that

Carby looks great!
I would love to polish my twin SU carbs and turbo manifold but I don't think I have the patience.
Keep up the great work!

Re: Sputzwagon 2 Scotty's EK standard sedan
G'day all....
Ever wonder what to do with that big space under the dashboards un-used radio speaker grill?
I think I've come up with one answer..make it house your Sat Nav unit.
I came up with the idea for two reasons..first was to have my Navman ready for use any time without having to use that crummy plastic mounting on my windscreen (which I have broken one already!), and secondly use a space that was doing nothing whilst keeping the dash relatively stock looking.
Fig #1: here we see the dash looking normal except for a small chrome handle on the speaker grill...

Fig #2: pulling the handle up starts to reveal the unit..

Fig #3: the fully opened position..

Fig #4: and yes ..the unit works perfectly through the radio grill screen (which was my one concern)

If any one is interested in doing the same I will draw up a diagram later...all you need is two small hinges, assorted small nut's 'n' bolts, a bit of mild steel, a length of light gauge angle and a bit of 3mm rod.
Scotty
P.S. I forgot to mention that the unit can still be removed and used on other vehicles as well as I've duplicated the rear mount for the unit in steel..

Nope...the weight of the Sat Nav is enough to hold every thing down nicely..with no rattles.harry186 wrote:doesn't it rattle ? won't work in mine though speaker grille is gone
That said I am putting the screws back on (although cut shorter) into small domed rubber feet ..just in case...just hav'nt done it yet....maybe tonight when it gets cooler...hot here today...whew!

That's awesome Scotty!
I have always wanted to do something similar using a linear actuator.
Great work!
