towbars wagon v sedan

Post by steest »

Hello all,
Long time reader, just reg and this is first post. Ive just been stung by alleged holden specialty wreckers in qld trying to buy a towbar to fit an fb wagon. My question is Are wagon towbars different to sedans? and secondly if anyone wants details of who they are and the way they do business Id be more than happy to email you. Excellent site and hopefully thanks for your help

Hi,
Don't know if it's much help to you but my EK sedan has a tow bar fitted. If you want measurments or a photo of mine to see if it is the same as yours just send me a PM or e-mail me an I'll be glad to help if I'm able.
Pretty sure fb-ek sedan rear floor pans where the same, not sure on utes, waggons&pannel vans though... i'm stil learnin  :)

Hi Steest!
I have a towbar on my wagon, so if you want pics and measurements to compare, more than happy to do for you as well.

Hoping everyone is finding my new Avatar less "Distracting" and of course it is not directed at anyone or anything either currently living or deceased, hopefully it may just be allowed to remain!

Hi Steest,
You can make a wagon tow bar fit a sedan. I've fitted a FC wagon tow bar to my EK sedan. FE,FC,FB,EK all fit. On my tow bar l had to cut the back of the flat plate the tow bar tongue fits to as it was close to the fuel tank only had to cut about 6-10mm or so and welded the 2 L shape brakets on either side of the tongue and drilled through the box section on either side of the fuel tank for the L brakets and inserted crush tubes and all works well.
Cheers Tony G.

Big thankyou to all for their help. I appreciate the offers of help and photos. Ive found another bar off a wagon so should be fine! I think the bar Ive got is either a panelvan/ute bar, or something totally wrong that previous owner made fit their car which wasnt a wagon, or wrecker doesnt know difference between an fc / fb, or I got straight out ripped off by wrecker! Got a headache trying to figure all this out but thanks again. There are certainly great people on this site.
