Hi,
Mr southcoastcustoms when I was young and afraid of nothing I installed triple SU's on a big block 186. They fit really well after you cut out the firewall for clearance. My dad said don't do it son but what the hell did he know! 20 years later I have to now replace this section and it will never be the same. :(
On a serious note the clearance was mainly for the air filter if you don't run one I think they fit but very close. This was also on a red motor not sure about the grey.

I've seen triple su's on an FB with grey motor that a mate fitted. you have no choice but to knock the firewall back at least 1 inch.

Thanks Greg, I have a small dilema!! I have a beautiful det of reco'd SU's intended go on the new red motor due to be instaled in the van, and really dont want to part with them! Do you think running short ram tubes will solve the problem???
not too shiny thankyou.

BUMP

Hi SouthCoastKustom,

I'm looking at getting some triple SUs for my red six too

How did you get on fitting them? Did you manage to squeeze them in with ramtubes? What brand manifold did you use? And how did they go...

Cheers

Hey there,

My fire wall has been bashed into submission for the sake of 3 SU's.
it was how it came and it doesn't bother me. It's not a show car so...

However, I have since heard of "offset" manifolds to suit grey motors that
solve this problem.

Never seen one but it may be worth researching. I imagine they come
out at an angle? :?: :?: :?:

kindly
The search continues...

SU's will fit quite good, except for the air filters.
Run ram tubes with finer filter socks and you shouldn't have a problem.
The convential Ram flow air filter design is pretty wide and thats where you have to do the bash.
Bets change the mechanical linkage set up for cable.

Sounds like some manifolds work and some don't...

Does anyone have any photos? Would love to know how you went SouthCoastKustom, as you seem to be the most recent to try!

Cheers

My manifold was not exactly the right one, just a touch too long and too close to the bonnet hinge/spring also for my liking, so I'm 350H now...
not too shiny thankyou.
