When I took mine off they had plastic spreading things that grip when you put a screw in them, now I have put in nutserts, much better

Re: sun visors
It depends how big the holes are. If they are small say 2mm across they would have had self tapers. If they are large say 8-10mm they had a rubber with a captive nut. On Sams ute I ended up buying the square shaped plastic inserts that are used on plastic bars and wheel arch trims. I had to file the holes square. It worked well (thanks for the tip Russell).
Re: sun visors
looking at old posts and thought i'd finalise this one by saying i ended buying them on ebay. they cost me $10 for four and they came from england.

Tim, there called rub nuts and should only be used in low torque application, mainly for motorbike fairings and screens. I wouldn't trust them to secure a visor.SunnyTim wrote:You can still buy the rubber grommets with the nuts inside. I took one in to a nut and bolt place and they matched it. THink it was $42 for a box of 50. The bolts are 5/16 or 3/8 heads from memory. As said in the post earlier if the holes were smaller they were a stainless flat blade self tapper.
