Rebuilding of Old Timer (EK wagon)
Re: Rebuilding of Old Timer (EK wagon) (Updated 27/7/10)
Great work there Stewart... I can feel your pain with those rear quarters, especially since you are using the Rare Spares patch panels! You and Luis must be close to getting rid of all the motheaten metal by now.
Hmmmm, do I see a flogged out old grey motor going in for some "go fast" treatment? All going well, I should be picking up my triples tomorrow. Can't wait to see what they look like all polished up and with the frogmouths!
Andrew

Stewart,
You've gone to the right place for the engine work although poor Russell has his work cut out for him since Terry has semi retired.
All that rust work must be driving you nuts by this stage .
Its looking good keep it up as the light at the end of the tunnel is shining brighter.
Regards Greg

must have been a swarm of those moths that love steel patch panels were repros but not rares. they wern't toooo bad for repros...alternative options????...not that many...
which reminds me I think I was supposed to get you the details of where I got those patch panels from... do you still need those details?
you see right Andrew but don't tell anyone it's a big secret.

Re: Rebuilding of Old Timer (EK wagon) (Updated 27/7/10)
thanks Greg. Yes I sensed that - the couple of times I've dropped in. Phone was ringing, people dropping in/out, old engines being delivered off and fresh ones going out...good thing for business.
you said it. I'm over it. If I dont have to pick up the grinder for some time I have no problemo with that at all.All that rust work must be driving you nuts by this stage

Hey Stew, we ended up persisting with the Rares panels and got it done. Thanks for asking anyway. Yep, I'm looking forward to tomorrow! Would have been a Christmas present if I didn't keep hassling him.

scotty...
yes mine seems to sit on the shelf a lot...but Luis knows where it is...By the way Stuart...do you need my welding helmet??
that's the aim and fingers crossed...pulling out all stops now. whilst all the rust has been happening I've been doing lots of other 'stuff' which I'll hopefully post up in the next month or so when it starts to come together...But seriously, nice job on the 'ol timer...think you'll make 2011 Nat's in it? Hope so

RB - panels are pretty good rust wise but all need the normal panel work to get the dings etc out.

Hey thanks HEAPS everyone for their comments - feedback like that helps keep things moving.
Jay - if there is ever a next one I'll be making sure there is as little rust as possible
Sam - thanks mate and thats a steel timing gear from Master Engineering
DR - maybe Luis was trying to block out hearing me say I've found some more rust that needs repair...
thanks Bat62, Ed and Thommo...slow and steady, slow and steady
Hey Tim...I've worked out where my local protec supplier is...does that count...?
