Castlemaine swap

Post by cplagarn »

Anyone else go to the Castlemaine meet today? Is it just me or does it seem like there is almost as much 'bric a brac' than car stuff. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy purchasing the odd figurine and jug as the next bloke  but its a worry when my wife has a better time than me :) . Did manage to find some near new rear shocks for the ute for $5 though! Anyone else score something interesting, bric a brac included

Figured as much. Didn't go this year was going to but was up there last week at the folks and couldn't get motivated to do the run up again. Over the last 5 or so years it has really gotten worse, starting to resemble a giant craft market.........
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Yeah it is a bit of a shame, but its still one of the 'nicer' meets in terms of shade and amenities etc. I guess you can't blame the lions club for trying to 'broaden' the market. Still, ive picked up more bargains there than say Ballarat or Bendigo as it seems to have less of the 'trader' types and more of a garage/boot sale vibe. Last year i picked up a box of grey motor external filters with 't' pieces etc for a song..ah happy days

castlemaine swap meet

Post by igor »

Morning folk
We made the trip again and made the observation that we don't think there were any more bric a brac stalls than usual, just the car related stuff has dropped off. There were a lot more vacant "no show" areas this year and we heard a conversation that there had been so much rain in the previous 24hours that sellers that normally travel from Horsham "gave it a miss", due to the weather. There were almost no cars for sale. We picked up some knick knacks for our little van and a couple of smaller related car bits. Always a good swap meet and as "cplagarn" said it is a clean user friendly swap meet and always a bargain of some sort to be found. Unfortunately I think the "ebay thing", has ruined swap meets, as time and time again you hear sellers who have astronomical prices on stuff, say "that's my price, if I don't get it here, on ebay it goes tonight!!)
We always enjoy it and will go back next year and see what happens from there.
cheers
Lesley
