3.55 Diff - Bench Test / Inspect ?

Post by smclaren »

I'm keen on a 3.55 diff upgrade ... and there are a couple currently available in my area.

Apart from a visual inspection of gears, slop etc, are there other methods of testing/inspecting them prior to purchase ? Both are already out of the donor vehicles ... so no fluid or debris to inspect.

Anyone want to look at what's on offer ?

Visual inspection only im afraid.

Check for backlash, wear patterns on the teeth, chipped teeth also. Rotate for smoothness and no grinding feeling.

You wont be able to tell if the diff is noisy until you get load on in which means road testing.
