Braided Fuel Hose
Hi all, just ordered and received a Braided Fuel Hose from Early Holden Parts. Looked really good, but when I tried to fit it, no dice at all. The end going into the fuel pump was way too big. Waiting for a reply, but I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this, and how do I get a correct one? Tha

From memory, the fuel pump body is tapped to 1/4NPT, and the braided line end fitting suits inverted flare. Between the two is an NPT-to-inverted flare adaptor, like this:
Suspect someone has broken your braided line many years ago, had a new NPT-ended hose made up, and deleted the NPT-to-inverted flare adaptor.

You're pretty spot on there Harv, but I believe the tapped hole in the fuel pump body is 1/8" NPT.

You're right. For some reason I always mix up 1/4 and 1/8 NPT. Seem to be able to visualise 1/16 and 3/8, but not the other two.

Thanks guys, also got advice from Roger too that I nee to remove the adaptor from the old hose and fit it to the new one. Just need to get the bugger loose!!!

Leave the adaptor fitting in the pump, then screw the new hose into it.
If the hose and adaptor are mated together first, as you screw in the NPT adaptor the whole hose has to turn. This tends to twist it, and can lead to kinking (particularly if you are as ham-fisted as I am).
With the adaptor on the pump first, the swivel end of the hose does all the twisting.
