Just thinking....

The fuel cap in an FB/EK is vented. The rear of the taillight is open to the cabin, and the otherside is close to taillight terminal spitzandsparken and hot bulb.

Presume you run a non-vented cap, and run a separate breather hose (off a filler neck nipple) somewhere else, mebbe with a rollover valve in it?

My plan is to seal it off , have the bottom section funnel shaped with a tube through the bottom panel all made of steel and fully welded. If there is a fuel spill it will not enter the cabin area. My original plan was to have the filler in the bottom corner of the boot directly behind the bootlid and modify the boot frame so the rubber runs around the filler - therefore sealed from the cabin - but the engineer wouldn't wear it ......

Plan was a plastic hinge like a gate hinge and a magnetic catch or a push to latch push to release like an old school kitchen door catch. Was thinking about getting fancy and wiring in a little actuator to open and close but probably overkill. Also got a Hagan fuel cap that has a spring loaded flap so you don't need to unscrew the cap just push the nozzle through the flap - I think I sent you a pic of it a while back when we were talking about this ????

Been thinking of the actuator thing too.
Need a hinge that swings the light out and away at the same time.
I’ve been to Bunnings to stare at the hinges imagining what might work.
No luck yet.
Yeah I remember the fuel cap you sent, would work well.

Tank number 6 and I recon we have a winner.
75 litres should do the trick.

Finished the floor around the tank and made some bucket seat mounts today.
Nothing worth taking a picture of so I’ll leave a sparkly grinder picture. Image

Ahh yes the falcon tank! That makes 7.
That was very close to the diff for me.

VR and VL tanks didn’t like the shape.
Same with the UC Torana one.
XG falcon tank would have been great but it is too badly rusted.
First alloy tank had way too many bungs welded in and the filler was in the wrong place.
This one came up on Facebook marketplace this Saturday morning so I grabbed it.
