Hi all

We did a trip to kingaroy today and picked up another K frame that appears to be a much better starting point to the one we had . Finger's crossed its still as good once blasted .

The original colour of the ute is cottesloe cream but I'm struggling to find any pictures of EK's this colour on line . Is it not a common colour?

Cheers

Col

pretty sure that's actually an EJ colour, i had one years ago i'm sure that was the name of the colour and that's what i was told, so must have been one of the last down the production line, we found a cool thing on mine when we removed the door trims on the backing was a hand drawing in pencil of an EJ ute so one must have been around in the factory somewhere that someone did a sketch of it

Thanks Mick , I think you are spot on from what I can find it's a EJ colour but come out on a few EK Ute's at the end of the line .

Things are moving along , stopped in at the little brothers tonight (it's his ute now ) and gave his card a hiding on rare spares and a few other places ..

The panel beater is kicking along and making big progress . Fire wall is done for the tripple webbers, inner and outer sills are done , floor pans done , tunnel done it's all happening...

We did a trip to kingaroy on the weekend and came home with a K frame that looks heaps better then the Swiss cheese we started with . It's at the blasters so should know in a couple of days .

So me and the little brother went on a rare spares shopping spree this week and it all arrived today .

We already have 2" lowed new springs I bought for it years ago but does anyone know if you can buy new rear springs lowered? Or do we need to get the old ones re set ?

You can’t get them off the shelf sneeze. I used a $130 8 tonne press to reset mine cold, after watching some other cowboys YouTube clip.

As Mick has indicated, most spring makers would be able to reset the originals.

I had a set of top leaves reversed (eylets) so the springs sit 1 inch lower with the standard travel, the spring makers did this by rolling the curve the opposite way on the main leaf, unfortunately i couldnt use them because my diff spring pads were also made one inch bigger to lower the car and my enginneer knocked it back because i didnt have 70mm bump stop clearance.

Spring makers will make new leaf sections if they are worn, most are on these old girls and are surprisingly quite affordable.

Cheers for the info gents , will call some local spring guys Monday.

I have another question for the brains trust ...

Does anyone make these replacement parts for the subframe where it mounts to the firewall ? Seems to be a regular rust spot hoping someone does them.. this is a second subframe we picked up last weekend and is much better then our original.

Thanks for all you're input so far

I dont think anyone is making them.. Easy to fab up those sections though and I think where yours are rusted is hidden in the firewall. The bottom half shapes are more complex so hopefully yours are ok.
