Re: The HOF

Post by thebrotherj »

Just before Christmas, I dropped The HOF down to ground and sold the rotisserie it was suspended from. The ad for that generated a lot of interest in the car itself. I had planned to put it together then advertise it for sale, but one person was particularly persistent...

By Christmas eve, I'd bolted up the donor front clip, hung all the panels, fabbed up a dolly to wheel it around on (the front cross member was sold a while back...) and sent the old girl to her new home across town. It went without motor & gearbox as the new owner wished, which suits me, as the Grey/3 speed might wind up in a new car that I've since acquired.

But that's a whole other story for another time.

Anyway. Sad to see it go, wish I could've seen it through to completion, but happy that it will be on the road sooner this way. Also please to hear the new owner won't be touching the paint, it's a great/rare combo.
Cheers, Joe

Well, I haven't purchased anything, in so much as no money has changed hands... but I'll leave it at that for now and start another thread to tell the tale soon. I promise.

Well here we are.

I've just logged in for a look around, having relocated my whole life over the last few weeks back to Sydney (having spent 2 years in Melbourne) and I am back in the house where I built both The HOF and my EK Ute, Leroy.

Scrolling back to the top of this thread, I'm both nostalgic and dumbfounded. I can't believe I had The HOF on a rotisserie in this TINY garage, not to mention carried out the complete rebuild of the Ute here. All the bespoke brackets high on the walls are still there, where doors, tailgate, bonnet...all manner of parts were hung, as I project-managed my way around both builds with limited space. Improvise and overcome eh.

Looking at the dates, it's been ten years since I joined the Forum also. Good to see it's still going, I wonder how it will look in 2034?

Cheers. Joe.

Hi Joe. Good feeling to be surprised in a good way by the great work achieved on your builds. Congrats on yours.
2034: Clay and Blacky will still be posting their last beers.

I clocked up 20 years on this forum earlier this year, its gone from 2 or 3 posts a month in the early days to gangbusters 10-15 years ago to what it is today - thanks Facebook
I am on a few other forums, nowhere near as active on them as this one or I would never get ANYTHING done  and they seem to have suffered a similar fate - some have died completely while others are in cruise mode similar to here with a small nucleus of regular posters and still quite a few lookers and occasional posters.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Hi Blacky, been loving the red rattler build by the way. So much fettling going on! I've noticed similar at other forums I merely 'observe' on, but they're still going at least. Oh and Facebook is and alwyas will be The Pits  agreed...

Nah, you've got heaps of storage/work space. What you are missing is access... reversing a trailer out of the laneways behind that place after I took a wrong turn in the dark was an education

Good to see you back Joe.

Oh god yes that was a bit of a chaotic evening!!

Dare I say it, I am in the throes of lining up my tradie mates for a demolition session. We're going to make the garage full-width and install a wider roller door so immediate access will improve. No more pussy footing around for me.

The politics of navigating that laneway will remain sadly, it's definitely easier in the daytime though I will say that much!

Good to hear from you to Harv, the Meth Monster build continues to inspire awe too. Hope you're not bankrupt yet.

Cheers, Joe
