Re: Wheels

Without wanting to state the obvious, all 3 are different.

EH wheel rims are dimensionally the same as FE, FC, FB, EK & EJ. These all interchange except FE & FC have the old style larger valve hole.

HD rims have a different offset & their centre is quite different in appearance, although they do ...

Re: Neutral Safety Switch

Hi Guys.

The green & pink wires are for the reverse lights. The black & grey are for the neutral safety switch.

Re: Valerie the EK Standard Sedan

Hi Guys.

AFAIK all FE to HR rear axle assemblies are around the same length (width).

HR's wider track was due to a change in offset of the wheel rims & this was for sedans & wagons only. HR utes & vans got HD rims with the reduced track dimension.

The rims with the reduced offset (wider track ...

Re: Thermo housing plug

Be careful not to use a BSP plug here. The correct thread is 1/2" NPT, which is close to 1/2" BSP but not close enough. I've seen these housings split open by fitting a BSP plug.

Re: Ignition coil location

Hi Guys.

John, you must have better eyes than I have. How can you pick that coil as being a "Red motor" coil ?

It could well be an SU12, which is the correct 12V (non-resistor) coil for a Grey motor system. SU12 coils made in the 70s & 80s had the same brown Bakelite top as an SU12R. The only way ...

Re: Coolride sun visor brackets

It should fit better than that, it could be from a different model. AFAIK in FB/EK the sedan, wagon, ute & van all have different rooflines & therefore different centre brackets.

Badges

Hi Guys.

I've been going thru my badge collection & have a question.

Did the FB Special get a 'Special' badge on the glovebox lid in the same fashion as the EK (& FE/FC).

The 48-HR parts catalogue only lists one for EK.

Also does anyone out there have a spare one-piece 'HOLDEN' FB boot badge. I ...

Re: Tailgate Badge on Wagons

- Is the badge the same on the FB & EK? (I know the "Special" badge on the guards differ between the models).

According to the MasterParts manual they are different.

Cheers,
Harv

Harv, the way I read the Master Parts catalogue is that both FB & EK wagons are fitted with the same tailgate badge ...

No, definitely 1/8" NPT.

GM-H rarely used BSP in those days.

Re: EK Auto

I don't think that is was that simple Harv.

The way I read the various manuals & service bulletins is as follows:

When the EK was first released the Hydra-Matic was described as a '3-speed' automatic & was labelled the 'Type H561'.

Mid-way thru the EK production run (around April '62), the H561 ...

Notice to all FB EK Holden owners in NSW.
An FB EK Holden Classic Vehicle is over 30 years old and retains its original drive train
and running gear with some period modifications allowed.

This is often misquoted.

The correct term is 'period accessories', not 'modifications'.

The exact RTA ...

Re: Fuel Pump Gaskit size - Was the Goss Original issue

Yes, one of the reasons cork is no longer used as gasket material is the 'shrinkage' problem.

On the subject of fuel pump brands, to my knowledge the fuel pumps fitted to all Holden Grey motors at the factory were made by AC in England.

Early Red motors also had AC pumps, but this was changed to ...
