Hi Guys.

The insert number, as has been mentioned, is the paint number for the insert or 'flash' on FC & FB Specials.

AFAIK it isn't used on other model series.

The side flash kits, like the 'Tilley' or 'Canopy Industries' accessories are just that, accessories, & as such were not fitted at the ...

EK engine number

Hi earlyholdenfan.

I think the 1st character is a G, which stands for the month of July.

If I read it correctly, the date code is July 27th 1961.

The B216602 engine number is approx 40,000 units into EK production.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys.

Just to add to what Matt has said. To keep it simple, I'm mainly after FB to HR numbers because the 48 to FC stuff is pretty well documented.

The format that he has given by example is perfect to work from.

You don't have to make your numbers public on the forum, you can send me a pm ...

Hi Guys.

Unfortunately, when the old Holden front drum brakes get hot, they warp. This is worse if they are driven hard, & it's why disc brakes are far superior.

I'm not suggesting just to go out, spend up big & convert to disc brakes, I love all Holdens in the original & untouched form.

Firstly ...

Hi Guys.

I know this was posted a few months ago. but I only just found you guys.

rosco is basically correct, everything on the list with the exception of the air cleaner is 'Holden Engine Grey'. The air cleaner is a mid gloss black. You might see them in a flat black, but this is either old paint ...

Hi Guys.

I know this was asked a couple of months ago, but I only just found you guys.

To answer the spring question. Sedans had 4 leaves, wagons had 5 leaves & commercials both had 6 leaves.

Hi Guys.

I'm building up a database for these trim combination numbers. It's only about 50% complete at present.

The first part of the number relates to the exterior colour(s) & the second part to the interior.

If you post (or pm) all the numbers off your body plate I can decipher them for you ...

Hi Devilrod.

Yes, you can make an EK column work.

The bits you need are the inhibitor switch & shift gate off an HD/HR Powerglide. The inhibitor switch is so you can start it in park & neutral & have reverse lights on in reverse. The shift gate bolts to the column tube, just above the steering box ...

Hi Burnsy..

You are making life very difficult for yourself, with the twin SU plan.

I would find a twin (or triple) Bendix-Stromberg set-up & you will find the auto linkage will only need minor mods to work.
