I don't know what the rules are in Sth Aust, but in NSW, copper pipe for brakes is illegal.

Yes, I agree It looks like an EJ/EH housing and brakes, with a 3.08 or 2.78 centre, probably out of a Torana, where they were far more common.

Not quite. If it's an early diff (3.89 Grey) it will have the early style rear uni joint which looks different to the later ones with their U-bolts ...

The wire to the fuel tank sender or the sender itself is open circuit.

A short circuit will hold the gauge to the empty position, but an open circuit will send it to full.

253 main bearing sets are easliy available in sizes ranging from STD to 40 thou under. The most common 'reco' grind seems to be 30 thou from what I have seen.
