Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan

Mebbe two little (4”?) contrails back from each budgie wing tip?

Cheers,
Harv

That was kinda the original plan - well a lot less subtle than what your suggesting. When the bonnet was hanging in storage I taped blue lines following the 3 tips of the bird to the back of the bonnet to get a visual ...

Blacky wrote: Fri Jul 18, 2025 9:07 am That's awesome , great work mate - do you mind if I steal your idea for the 2 door ???

That is just the sort of "is that stock or modified??" subtle mod that really gets the crowd guessing.
Go for it - it is exactly that subtle mod that I am after

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan

……Might as well take the line further. Same method - wire as a guide - with slight increase in degree of difficulty as I want to start the line wider to match the back of the bird, and then taper out to nothing. The design is also based on the limitations of access to the panel where the braces ...

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan

Few weeks back I went down and visited Brett and Project 2. 7 hour round trip to collect a bonnet, with a plan to use the front of it to repair my bonnet, which lost a fight many years ago with a garbage truck.

Idea was to take the skin of the donor and use my frame. But before I started with the ...

That's come up a treat. Love how dished you have gone with the new piece to match the lines of the fender.

Re: Mustang Fuel tank Sender Problems

Using a resistor in parallel will affect the linearity of the resistance/fuel level relation.

Hey Rob - I didn't find to be an issue when tested previously but I will have another check. Rewinding is an option I hadn't really considered.

Do you have the room to extend the float arm to ...

Re: Mustang Fuel tank Sender Problems

So had to read back through this to work out what parallel resistance I need. At FULL, gauge expects 30ohm, the sender is 47ohms. Online parallel resistance calculator says I will need 83 ohms to get just over 30ohms. As I have them, I will probably just use 2 47ohm in series (94 ohm) which ...

Re: Mustang Fuel tank Sender Problems

Following up - I got some stainless wire for the mig and tacked an end stop on (photo is pre weld) after re bending the arm to allow for a little more space between the float and the bottom of the tank. Now the float sits just below the top and reads 47 Ohms so I will have to re do the parallel ...

Re: FB vertical grill inserts

Yes - 'clear' filament (looks semi opaque which is not a bad thing) and I just jammed a led from the puddle lights in there for a look. As I will have some excess stainless I might try making one with slots in it. Might look good - or a bit try hard - or both. Would have to work out a way to mount ...

Re: FB vertical grill inserts

Test fit before folding this bend over. I didn’t do this the first time and it was too tight. Undoing a 180 degree bend is a pain.

Re: FB vertical grill inserts

Here is the process for anyone wanting to try. Read the descriptions as the photos were taken of the first ones I did, so some of the process in the images is arse about. Took me 2 and a half hours to make the first 2 and as long again to do the next 6 once I had the steps sorted.

Start by laying ...

Re: FB vertical grill inserts

Following up from the previous post. I received 12 FB grill vertical from Brett (thanks again!). They all have some form of pitting and need rechroming. Gave them all a clean up and a polish thinking I could maybe get away with only rechroming half. But then I had a bit of a rethink.
Well lots of ...

If you’ve really got your heart set on using those nuts, let me know. I think I’ve got a set here you are welcome to. They are packed under the house, so would need to remind me once the shed is built.

Thanks for the offer Harv - I might just take you up on that.

Re: Ol' Rusty - FB/EK Sedan

Last job on the intermittant wipers. 3D printed box to mount on firewall/center console. Maxtronic, my circuit and relay all stuffed in the box. Wired it up so if the box has a failure, it can be removed without changing the functionality of the 2 speed wipers.

Citric acid is great for cleaning up parts - until you forget to take them out. Pot metal rocker cover decorative nuts.... into the bin!
