Re: seized drum
Update. Drove the ute into town with one wheel cylinder doing nothing. Mechanic made new hoses for both front lines and the one connecting the rear brakes. He said the master cylinder was stuffed so it now has a new one. We also have a handbrake now. While he was at it, he fitted a new speedo cable....

Re: Sales and Tax Invoices
I was hoping and wondering if anyone had examples of tax/sales invoices which came with the vehicle in their hayday. Different examples of what people were given and from different dealerships, and also curious to see if pricing was much different between dealers and states for things like accessor...
Re: My EK Ute
Thanks for the pics Patrick. Nice ute that! It's going in for its brake job tomorrow.

Re: hood ornament
It came with the Coolaride visor. I guess that was just part of the dress-up for the end of year sale.Craig Allardyce wrote:They were a Nasco option for all FB & EK. Opt for it from new or not I guess...........if you've got the bucks.

hood ornament
What's the go with hood ornaments on utes? We bought our EK new and it didn't have a hood ornament, but I see some utes do. Were they added later or did some dealers add them before delivery?
I don't want one, as I like the clean lines of my EK, but I just wondered why some have them and some don't.

Re: seized drum
OK, some better results today. That drum would not go on so I took everything apart again (including the bleed screw) and refitted the whole lot. The drum went on - just. Perhaps I had something wrong the first time. Anyway, the ute is now driveable again - albeit with nothing happening on the drive...

Re: seized drum
Have you backed off the adjusters before trying to put the drum on? If they are new shoes have they been radius ground to suit the drum profile? Yes, I have backed off the adjusters as far as they will go. I put a large clamp across the shoes to try to move them in further but the drum will not fit...

Re: seized drum
Yes, I understand that. I have every intention of getting the car to our mechanic in town, but at the moment it is not driveable with no brakes. I spoke to him about it and he said, as you did, that the flexible hoses will need replacing. He has known the car since new. I have put things back togeth...

Re: seized drum
No reply required. When all else fails look in the manual. I see the linings on the back shoe are about 50mm shorter than the ones on the front. So that's all OK. Went to install the reconditiond wheel cylinders today but found that I can't get any fluid through the right hand brake hose. Must be a ...

Re: seized drum
All good. Cylinders are back and ready to be installed. I notice the brake linings are not a matching pair. One lining does not extend the full length of the shoe. I thought a piece must have broken off at some stage, but I checked the other wheel and it's the same there. Are the linings on opposite...
Re: My EK Ute
FJ, we added those clips because when we ordered a new tonneau cover it came with the stretch bands not the eyelet type. Well, it had metal eyelets along the glass end and that's why those metal pegs are still there. The stretch bands on the tonneau were never a good idea though. They have lost all ...
Re: My EK Ute
Tim: The ute has never been out of North Queensland. I did one trip to Townsville in it in 1974 and that is as far south as it's been. I'll take a side on photo or two. At the moment the front is up on stands while we do the front brakes. They were getting very dodgy. I guess I could still take a si...

Re: EK TOOL KIT - OE - what was in it?
OK, here's a photo of the original vinyl wallet that came with the car. It contained the user manual, a service record booklet and a car care guide that tells you how to remove ice-cream from the seats. The sales receipt is also there. I'll add a close-up of the receipt as well. Note the 2/9d stamp ...
