Found it 😊. Quality is not good but it works and it’s free. Zap me your address if it is of use.
ahh nice, this will match the rest of the car perfectly *chef's kiss*

I've sent you a PM - Cheers!

Re: Door handle & speedo

Hi Joe

I think I have a spare second hand door handle I just need to find it! I will look tomorrow and advise. With your speedo it might just need lubricating with a couple drops of fine oil, as mine did. It was so tight to turn it broke the cable inner.

Door handle & speedo

Hi all

Chasing a driver’s outer door handle for my ute. Chrome quality is not important, but needs to work well! Getting tired of ‘repairing’ it (the button keeps getting stuck in)

Also: not so urgent, but I’m chasing a speedometer. Mine sounds like it has spun a main bearing… and whips back ...

Re: Chev EK

Hey Greg!

Love the Frod, and good luck for the big cleanup.

Speaking of which… I finally have the donor car for that 327 I’ve had for ten years. I’ll be building the motor then mating it up to a Saginaw, so I’m gathering all parts to make that happen. Would you happen to be moving on any Chevy ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Hi Joe,
I’ve been running an overflow for ever, Tectalloy concentrate with rainwater or demineralised. No idea what pressure cap.

But then the Ute has an HEI ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Curious to hear what coolant folks use for their grey motors also

Repco green glycol @50%. Makes a mess and lets me know when I have a leak. The 20L drums are good for storing sump oil.

Bought some aftermarket Suzuki “blue” coolant a few months back to top off The Little One’s Jimny radiator ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Awesome young Joe, good to see you still have the old girl running and in your possesion.

Not only the radiator but the heater cores also suffer from big PSI, 7 pound recovery cap with a overflow will fix it.

I use green glycol mix which has anti freeze built in as well.

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

I was having an issue with losing water coming back from the Nationals one year - we stopped in Esperance at a radiator place and the bloke sold me a new cap as the original 7lb cap was knackered - told me the only real issue with running a higher poundage was the original radiator tanks were not ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Joe,

The radiator tanks aren't designed for that much pressure, so there's a risk of them failing with repeated 15 psi pressure cycles.
Because Leroy keeps his cool, you'll most likely be OK. I'd still recommend you find another 7 psi cap though.

Rob
Great, thank you.

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Greetings all

So the centre of my 7psi non-recovery radiator cap rusted out, which I discovered on a thrash up to Newcastle the other weekend for some 327 Chev parts... which is another story…

I’ve never ever installed a recovery setup on any early Holden I’ve owned, decided to try it out on Leroy ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Yes, a necessity for the ute during summer cruising months. You can always renovate later or even in situ if you get the urge.

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

I need to make a few trips over the next couple of days in the Ute and the forecast is pretty toasty here in Sydney… so I figured it might be time to install the venetian that Blacky sent me the other month.

I had planned to hit it with rust blaster and repaint, but having just spent two hours on ...

Re: Leroy the EK Ute

Hi Joe. Just spent a few hours reading through Leroy's journey, as I saw the recent posts and realised I had not followed this build through. What a great story it was. You have a gift with words that made it a real pleasure to read. Lot's of great engine and technical info in there too, and of ...
