Re: Death of an EK standard

Id set it up (or what's left) up as a garden "artistic" feature in the front yard.

Re: Mega cruise to Hervey Bay Nats - Idea

I'm planning a 3 day trip up, and definitely planning to arrive on Thursday or even Wednesday. I'm gonna guess you SA blokes will be getting on the Newell at Wyalong. That would make, at least for people from Melbourne, a good day 1 first stop, and to join the convoy from SA. How does that sound?

Re: 2015 FB EK Nationals HERVEY BAY, Qld June 6&7

Really looking forward to the big trip from Melbourne. Nice to have one in Qld. I've already been researching cruise control kits! Also planning the duration of my stay up there. Definitely will be at least a week in the area, looks like Harvey bay and surrounds has a lot to offer.

Thanks for posting the vids Shane. I thoroughly enjoyed watching that not-so-hot lap. Also glad we went.

Re: Dakams breif photos of the weekend.

That oil you were putting into your motor which was lost, I think I found some on the front of my car! Amazed at how that little red motor rocketed along.. Even up those really long climbs up the Hume. Definitely worth rebuilding and/or hanging onto!

Re: unusual badge

I'm going to guess it was a fleet car belonging to the Email company. Email was a large Australian company (remember those) who's main trade was power metering (like the kWh meters in the meter box) and also industrial switch gear, like main isolators used in power distribution. I think I vaguely re...

Re: Headlights

Hi Ross. They draw roughly the same as Halogen but produce about three times the amount go light. I agree, the problem with glare is very real, and even though I'm not quite as old, I'm still irritated by the glare of the after-market fitted ones in an urban environment. I've been doing some reading...

Re: Headlights

In an example of history repeating itself, you may want to go with HID. We know how bright the halogen lights are, to quantify, say around 1000 lumens. These new buggers start around 3200 lumens and go up from there. The only thing is as they get more powerful, the more blue/ violet appearance you g...

Re: Rare Spares Rubber Kits

Same.
Go the kit. I had no dramas with windscreen or rear glass. Provided the rubbers in the doors and boot are fitted right, and you use generous amounts of that rubber magic spray, all should go well.

Re: surface rust inside of roof

Hi Pete I was confronted with the same problem when doing up my FB. I took care of the loose stuff with a scotch brite wheel, then applied a generous coat of POR15. Also applied to the listing wires for the headlining. Apparently that por stuff bonds with oxidized steel at a molecular level, and whe...

Much happier with the look. Haven't driven it yet, but it feels different just sitting in it. Backed it out for a photo last night, then the clods rolled in and we get that big storm. (Close call, nearly got her wet!). Excuse the spare wheel, and the lack of a before pic. Those who are familiar with...

Re: Flipped spring lowering

Just did my FB sedan using Trevor's flipping method. Took two inches out of the back. Originally, the front only was lowered, (The look from the 80's). Always thought the downhill rake looked a bit naff, even back then, let alone now, and on my car. Now the tip of the fin is almost exactly the same ...
