Thats why its not charging, the brown wire on the alt really needs to go through a dash light globe. it works by putting ignition switched positive power through the globe to provide positive power to the brown wire. how it works is when the alt isnt spinning the brown wire at the alt is a negative ...

But have you got the brown wire from that 2 wire plug going to the GEN light on the dash and is the globe ok in the GEN light?

commodore alt has a 2 wire plug on it, usually white and brown. the white is a sense wire that should go to the battery, this wire tells the alt what the voltage is at the battery so it knows when to stop charging, it can go to the main charge wire on the alt as that does go back to the battery, but...

I didnt think too much of it either when i went to pick up the axles myself, but i havent had a issue with them so far, done a few burnout comps too.
When you say 1 tonner axles, are they from commodore ute?

Mine arent doweled, run beads of weld along the area to be splined then cut the splines in that area, about the last 3rd if the spline (top edge) is weld the lower section is original axle.

the axles can be done, i shorten a vn diff 60mm each side for a project. the axles where resplined by building the the area with mig welding then cut the splines. the axles are in a 330hp 1000kg race car now for 3 years without a problem. the decompression plate should have two headgaskets to seal it up. thats your problem.

it was $1275 not $12075 so why the change? and if that is what you gave him for it the rest will rot away to nothing as most of us dont have that kind of money and now he'll think they are worth all that.
