Thanks for this great guide.
Followed the guide including venturi sleeves and jet setting for my stock 202 and runs sweet.
Cheers Ben

Hi Blacky, do you have any detail on the “HR front with Cortina rack and Landcruiser brakes” adaption? Sounds interesting.

No, going with a Lokar floor shifter for the T700R4.nes138 wrote:Good stuff mate, you have a column shift version?
Would have liked a column shift setup but the floor shift seemed easier.

Collapsable Steering Column for V6 Conversion - How I Did It
I am slowly working my way through a FB V6 conversion project. This site has been a great resource for information and ideas.
One area that had troubled for a while was fabricating a collapsable steering column.
I gathered the parts and with some hand tools and a welder was able to fabricate my ...

Re: fitting HR control arm bushes
I have one of those tools and will be able to get into the shed on Friday and measure it up for you, if no one has the detail before then.
Update - Just went for a walk and found it right away. 40mm in height.
Yell out if you need more info.

Re: VN Diff Shortening
I was very surprised how easy they were to get as I thought I would have a hard time in getting them, but went to the local Commodore wreckers and they had plenty.
They were also used on the VQ Statesman (series 1 with wheel covers not alloys). I picked up 4 of the 15x6 26P's for $20 each.

Re: VN Diff Shortening
Got the welder fired up and finished the shortening of the diff assembly.
Next to fit the leaf spring saddles.

Unfortunately I take a while to plan but when I get to doing it I am too impatient to stop and take pictures.

Re: VN Diff Shortening
The P refers to positive.
The standard Commodore VN wheels are a 43mm positive offset - they are stamped 43P on the rim
The VP IRS Commodore wheels are a 26mm positive offset - they are stamped 26P on the rim
The standard early Holden wheels are a 6mm positve offset

Re: Stabiliser mounts in the way!
The brake caliper adaptors (for HR Drum Stub) I have will only allow for standard VN - VP calipers. VT calipers are too long and hit the vertical part of the stub axle.
Where did you get your brakets from?
Do you have a face on shot of the bracket?
Thanks,
Ben

Re: VN Diff Shortening
Correct going with the original setup of leaf springs.
Coilovers would need a fairbit of work to strengthen the top coil over mounts and then some sort of triangulated 4 link.
I have done this before in my old model A hotrod, but had plenty of room and 2x4 chassis rails to work with.

Re: Stabiliser mounts in the way!
Do you have any pictures of the brackets on the stubs?
Interested to see as I thought the VT calipers would be too big a hit on the upright.

Re: VN Diff Shortening
A couple of ideas / tips for the job.
You should get some smaller diameter tube to reinforce the join you will make in the axle tube.
You may need to slit it down length ways to either open up or close in the diameter to fit.
With the slit make sure it on the bottom of the tube when the assembly is ...
