Eye matching used to be a real art .....

Looking to repaint my Bosch starter motor (original EK) whilst it's out of the car .... but which blue is it ? Yep ... that old chestnut ?
I've searched and searched ... I cant seem to find a name that differentiates this blue colour over other blues used.
I've taken a photo below that ...

3.55 Diff - Bench Test / Inspect ?
I'm keen on a 3.55 diff upgrade ... and there are a couple currently available in my area.
Apart from a visual inspection of gears, slop etc, are there other methods of testing/inspecting them prior to purchase ? Both are already out of the donor vehicles ... so no fluid or debris to inspect ...

Cheers for the "how to" Clay and Brett
I can't use it myself ... but will certainly test it and move it on to someone who can ... for the cost of just postage.
Cheers

Found this old thing rolling around in a parts draw today .....
I got it in amongst a pile of old Holden parts 25+ years ago. Never used .. dont know anything about it.
What's the best way to test it ... see if it works ? Does it need to run off the generator ?
Cheers

Hi Rob
Pretty sure I have both a NOS accelerator pump and float needle & seat.
I'll pop them in the post down to you tomorrow.
Cheers
Steve
**EDIT: Goods on the way. 1 x Accelerator pump and 2 x needles & seats to choose from. **

Thanks Harv
That's a really great explanation of the very low end fuel delivery. I'll definitely clean those transfer holes out.
So for yours and especially Rob's info ... I swapped out the carbs today while Bathurst played in the background, and got some great initial results.
