My rotor arm needed about 4mm hacksawed off the bottom to allow a proper fit on the shaft with about 0.5mm clearance to the top of the magnet ring. I didn't feel like pushing the motor ring down further and cracking the top of the ring (and possibly moving the magnet alignment out of the sweet spot ...

Grey Motor reco costs

got my EK grey full reco from RPM Engines cost 2,500. Flywheel machining was extra. Had to wait a few weeks as the 'oldie' in the custom machining section was on holiday. They didn't provide a breakdown of all the activities.

Problem was the cable sheath had pulled back from the assembly, along the spiral guide spring, just enough to stop proper engagement.
C'est la vie.
But I did notice other problems I need to fix - so it was worth the sortie.

Thanx FB 60,

I had pulled out the cable and checked the end. It was fine - a good square end to fit to the gearbox end - no sign of damage/break/burring/kinking.

I was hoping that the more likely failure was with the driven gear assembly - but it doesn't sound that way!

EK speedo problem

Speedo on my EK manual sedan is not working. Cable is all fine and spins easily, but does appear to engage into the transmission properly and doesn't turn when driving (ie. the problem is not the instrument panel end).

Shop manual doesn't comment on any gear problems that could occur with either ...
