Re: Are you Bored? Bang for Buck Engine recipe required.

I got around the overfueling issue on the HAMBster by running a 1/4" line out of the back of the fuel block and into the fuel tank so the fuel circulates. I've also got a fuel pressure guage running off the fuel block and to regulate pressure I put a pop rivet into the line to restrict the fuel ...

Sorry Blacky. I've just notices this post. That reply was for a different post regarding an FJ on the East Coast.

Re: Are you Bored? Bang for Buck Engine recipe required.

One thing I wonder is why run 98 fuel? I did dyno runs with my HAMBster on 91 and when we changed to 98 I lost 10 H.P. straight away. I could've played with timing and jets but I like to keep it simple with less trips to the toolbox at the 'strip. A retired industrial chemist that used to work for ...

The cam in my Grey powered HAMBster is about the same as a GTR XU1 grind. The standard cam was ground because no cam billets were available. It has survived probably 3-400 passes down the 'strip. I think it was done by Camtech in 2010.

Re: Slightly off topic ……

That looks like Electron Blue otherwise known as Brooklands blue otherwise known as the colour of Cleanaway trucks. I know because I painted my FJ ute in 1999 that colour and had it on the road for 18 years. That one you bought I think was originally from Belmont NSW.

Re: MMMMM………..

I don't know if this helps but I used Tasman centres in the front wheels of my HAMBster. After grinding the original rim away from the 'spokes' leaving the metal bit poking out I then used a standard HR ring. The Tasman centre is a snug fit and when I took them to a local bloke to fit them he told ...

Re: Bangers and Mash

So all these years I've been wrongly under the impression that it was the increase in bore size that made the 138. Well, there ya go.
That's a fairly old photo of my car. The 'embossed ' Holden on the rocker cover was an old bonnet badge from my FJ ute which I glued on plus I run a mechanical pump ...

My wife worries about how to get rid of my stuff if I cark it! Wait till I show her this collection.
Bugger me if I didn't actually see a Vanguard panelvan in a back yard out near Griffith N.S.W. today. Talk about serendipity.

Re: Bangers and Mash

I thought I'd add an update of the Holden Grey that I replaced the expired engine with that gave me the victory at the Bangers and Mash event. After extensive modification of absolutly nothing except for fresh fuel (91 straight from the pump) I did a total of 13 passes at Gunnedah this past weekend ...

Re: Bangers and Mash

Thanks Harv. I don't think the bore got damaged but I'm planning on getting another block bored and starting fresh. I've got some spare EJ rods and I'm going to see if Kevin Pryce in Cardiff, NSW can source another full set of forged pistons from the U.S.A. He got the last set for me and they were ...

Re: Bangers and Mash

Just an update on the engine that expired at the Six Banger nats. Not only did I break the crank but bent no.6 conrod and busted the bottom off the forged piston. Bearings are shot as well. I have one race left this year at Gunnedah 1st November and hopefully the spare engine will stay together for ...

Don't forget Harv that anything you chrome will add weight. A nice coat of paint might suffice.
