Re: Hydramatic 1st to 2nd very rough

Thanks, yeah I've read through the manual and can see that pressure test. I'll give it a go when the filter from Harv arrives and post back with results.

Re: Hydramatic 1st to 2nd very rough

No luck with the band adjustment. Gave it all a clean up and turned my attention to the filter. It looks quite perished but I cannot for the life of me find where to purchase one besides this site https://www.fatsco.net/roto-5.html that I dug out of the archives on this site (hasn't been updated ...

Re: Hydramatic 1st to 2nd very rough

Thanks mate, I've checked the fluid and it seems good. Winding on the throttle linkage all the way seems to minimise the issue but it's still happening. Might drop the pan and readjust the bands. Seems simple enough from the service manual. I Will report back.

Hydramatic 1st to 2nd very rough

Hi All,
I've recently got my EK on the road. standard grey motor with hydramatic. All is well except for the shift from 1st to 2nd gear. It seems to hold onto 1st for way too long and then kick up to 2nd with a jolt and a shudder. 2nd to 3rd you can barely feel so I know it has the potential to ...

I'm planning on laying down dynamat on the floors, do people replace the factory firewall insulation with it or is it a good idea to keep it too?

Re: Simba's EK Wagon

Some updates. First bit of rust repair. A bit rough but no ones gunna see it I suppose. There was a fair bit of bog under there from a previous repair that I had to grind out and weld over. Next one should be a bit neater, It's all a learning curve.

Re: Simba's EK Wagon

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome!
i just picked up four doors last night practically free of rust so that has saved me a lot of time and effort given how bad a state my doors were in. Goal is to get the floors done this weekend I think.

Re: Simba's EK Wagon

That's true. If I have to jump through the engineering hoops then that's OK given it's all a benefit to my safety. I had a minor crash in a 63 falcon that had no seat belts a few years ago and that was quite a wake up call. I'm in Newcastle, Any reasonable Engineers around this area? Good thing is I ...

Re: Simba's EK Wagon

Thanks everyone. This forum looks like a great place to post my progress and get advice etc. I'll get a pic of the body tag today and post it up. In regards to the wheels yes I do indeed have different stud patterns on the front and back so I'll have to somehow marry up a set of hq era wheels with ...

All the doors are rusted through so will need to repair or replace them. Got lost of goodies on their way from gumtree. Wheels, orginal steering wheel, trim etc.

Re: Simba's EK Wagon

So I have recently found out while stripping the car that it was restored in the late 80's / early 90's. Has a red 186, celica 5 speed, hq disk front end and a shortened vl diff with rear disk brakes. With a bit of a freshen up it starts and drives, only have one brake out of four working though so ...
