Well the gizmo with the red bubble is an air balancer. So you loosen all the linkages and adjust each idle stop so all three carbs are drawing the same volume of air. Some folks use a hose in the intake area of each carb and listen to the hiss to try and get same sound from each carb.

Hey Dave - do you have the part number for that tank? 16 gallons? I started researching dimensions and I thought it was going to sit closer to the diff than yours. Might have been looking at the 69 tanks which are 22 I think. Inspired to start looking again!

Patches done, mostly. Bit more finishing required before filler (definitely required...). Filled in trim holes.

Let me slither out into the yard snd check my couch cut.
I’m guessing the hole is for retaining the end of the stainless trim, but I’ve never owned a special, couch cut included.
