Merlin Intake

Post by WesternWagon »

Picked up this Merlin intake with the Ute today, looks new carbs have been rebuilt
They are on a bit of an angle but not too steep
Not sure if it’s a marine manifold
Anyone seen one

Cheers

Marine tilts the other way I reckon. Didnt they run the prop shaft off the front of the crank?

Nice looking rig anyway.

angle doesnt look too bad , and yes marine manifolds are usually tilted the wrong way as the motor sits in a boat arse about if its a centre mount. you could have the base area milled if the angle is too much ?
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Damn, for a minute there I thought he meant a Rolls Royce Merlin 8) . Could have been building the FB/EK version of the Thunderball humpy.

Haven't seen a Merlin manifold before. Looks very tidy.

Some of the marinized greys run off the crank, others ran off the box-end.

Cheers,
