Re: wheel standing fc wagon
With the popularity of nostalgia drag racing Im surprise nobody has built a wheel stander. They thrilled the crowds years ago. Anyone got any other pics of well known wheel standers from here or the US. The most famous of them all to me was the Little Red Wagon.

Probably the first built in this country, were built because Adelaides Brooksfield Raceway put up a cash prize forbootlegger wrote:Anyone got any other pics of well known wheel standers from here or the US.
the longest wheelstand at their meetings.
Among cars built were these two
Ron Hasset's Austin 8
Ron O'Connell's Prefect
Others to follow included The Striptripper, Neville Alders 'Mechanical Ape' Kombi, and Moonshot among others.
Ex Martin Wileman Miles 'Shaker' Funny Car
Touring US wheelstanders were fairly commen with Wild Bill Shrewsberry and his 'LA Dart' the most visited.

The yanks had tons of them, check out this selection.
Of coarse just doing a wheelstand got a bit boring, so ya had to do something stupid to stand out

Thanx Thommo...a comprehensive coverage of wheelstanders of the golden age. I remember seeing the 'Mechanical Ape', the 'Strip Tripper' and 'Hemi Under Glass' (from the US) all run at Castlereigh in the early 70's. Great times.
