Triple SU,s to FB ..

I am fitting a 202 with triple SU,s to my FB will they fit or will the firewall need notching out to accommodate the back carby ..any input would be appreciated ..Bill S.....THANKS

Gday Fingers

Some triple manifolds have the runners leaning slightly towards the front of the engine,
this will give you the clearance needed.
Others have straight runners (square to the head) that will have the rear carby fouling the firewall.
You will need the find the right one, shorter runners would be prefered over longer ones too,
nothing to do with performance, just clearance issues.

Anyone have triple SU's fitted that can supply a pic & let us know what manifold they use?

they still may not do the job as they were designed for EH engine bay and generally a red motor sits further back in the engine bay of an FB/EK than an EH

As Harry says the EH's & HR's etc had flatter firewalls,
the FB-EK firewall is recessed around the engine.

Here are pics of the differances in the manifold styles,
both Red 6's with triple SU's, one is just not going to fit,
the other may have a chance, at least with less drastic firewall mods

The battery may also have to go in the boot.

Hey Bill, if you haven't done so already, it's a good idea to get the carbs professionally rebuilt (e.g., new throttle shaft bushings, new needles, new floats especially as these tend to crack and fill up with fuel, etc). Tuning and balancing multiple carb setups when the carbs are worn out is just a nightmare.

mine has issues hitting the battery tray. but they clear the firewall.
